GRAB & GO LIFT-OFF AT COLLINS AEROSPACE
As a leader in defence and aerospace technology solutions, it was no wonder why Collins Aerospace required frequent fuelling. Our Grab & Go Foodies provided their workforce with an eco-friendly, cashless service full of cold and hot beverages, sweet treats and healthy snacks, day and night. This resulted in a large uptick in utilisation rates – and overall happiness across the building.
Collins Aerospace, a unit of Raytheon Technologies Corp. (NYSE: RTX), is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. Created in 2018 by bringing together UTC Aerospace Systems and Rockwell Collins, Collins Aerospace has the capabilities, comprehensive portfolio, and expertise to solve customers’ toughest challenges and to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving global market.
After their existing coffee and vending machines started to have operational issues and showed signs of irreparable wear and tear, Collins Aerospace began looking for a new supplier. Their main priorities for finding a supplier extended beyond functioning machines. They wanted to upgrade their entire product offering and started searching for one with a great product range, was cost-effective and produced minimal environmental impact. In addition to these requirements, pandemic preparations and restrictions had to be put into place to follow COVID- 19 guidelines.
After researching several suppliers and solutions, including vending and traditional catering options, Collins Aerospace found that Selecta's Foodies ticked all the boxes and more! We made it our mission to provide them with a standard range of fresh foods, healthy snacks, and hot and cold drinks and delivered a high-quality service that accommodated their ever-changing shift patterns and limited break-out space available.
The installation of our Foodies happened as COVID-19 restrictions were being set in motion, so we made sure that all the necessary measures and precautions were in place. We sent out relevant COVID-19 marketing information and pre-delivery inspection installation information before the team visited sites. All of our employees who visited wore masks, gloves, and full PPE equipment to maintain a safe and COVID-19 compliant environment. The Foodies MicroMarket is now equipped with hand sanitising stations for both entry and exit points, social distancing two-metre stickers and Distance Selection technology to reduce touchpoints across all sites.
Collins Aerospace had temporarily stopped its shift patterns during COVID-19 and put its night shift workers on a day shift, so the MicroMarket turned out to be a much-needed solution in providing staff with sustenance during the pandemic and beyond. Our Foodies MicroMarket has increased the food and drink options available and made purchasing lunch and snacks more convenient, as staff do not need to leave the site to go and buy food, which would, of course, heighten the risk of infection.
After four years of working together, our Foodies was installed in one of the Collins Aerospace buildings in the UK. The site has now been using the MicroMarket as a new grab-and-go catering alternative with staff believing it to be a better solution, containing a wider variety of products and better aesthetics than a traditional vending offering. The impact of COVID-19 meant the need for more pre-packaged food and drink for staff and social distancing. Across the Foodies solution and coffee machines, employees have reported being happy with the selection of products on offer and the quality of the drinks.
